PDO cheeses

Bleu d’Auvergne, Cantal, Fourme d’Ambert, Saint-Nectaire, Salers: 5 great PDO cheeses… They are also 5 significant characteristics of Auvergne’s identity.

Auvergne is a «fantastic cheese platter» : it is the only French region to produce 5 PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) cheeses. The diversity of Auvergne’s countryside -from Monts du Forez to the Puy de Sancy via the Monts Dore and the Cantal- is fully expressed by the aromas and the flavours of these PDO cheeses.

The Auvergne PDO cheeses, produced according to ancestral savoir-faire transmitted from one generation to the next, are tightly and intimately linked to a diversified mountain flora, a protected nature and a rich and lively heritage.
